Moody’s has changed its outlook for sub-Saharan African countries to positive, Reuters reports, citing reforms, commodity prices and improved financing access.

The agency expects weighted regional growth of 4.3% in both 2026 and 2027. It forecasts a decline in governments’ annual financing needs.

Debt repayments, weak government revenues, climate risks and security threats remain vulnerabilities. A regional outlook is not the same as an individual country’s credit-rating upgrade.

WHY IT MATTERS

The improved regional outlook highlights financing progress while leaving country-specific debt and revenue risks in view.
